Why did Black Panthers alarm white Americans?

Black Panthers alarmed white Americans because they promoted a black nationalist and socialist agenda and believed in the use of violence to achieve their political goals. They opposed the government's systematic racism and oppression of African Americans and other minorities, and advocated for revolutionary action to achieve social change. Furthermore, Black Panthers used militant tactics such as armed self-defense in their struggles against police brutality and other forms of racism.
