The person whom the French Revolution is usually associated with was Maximilien François Marie Isidore de Robespierre. He was a lawyer and a politician with his activities often aimed at helping poorer people. However, as a historical figure, Robespierre was not of a "knight in white" type: in particular, he is believed to have had reached some of his political goals through physically eliminating his opponents.
