When did hip-hop music begin?

Answers

Hip-hop music began in the late 1970s in the Bronx, New York. Initially emerging from the street parties and DJ crews of the Bronx, the genre was heavily influenced by funk and disco and popularized by DJs such as Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa, and Grandmaster Flash. During its early years, MCs scratched records, added rhythmic rhymes, and pioneered the use of sampling and looping. This early form of hip-hop music has since become the most popular and influential form of rap and rap music we know today.
