What were the causes of many of the peasant rebellions in China?

Peasant rebellions in China were caused by a combination of socio-economic, political, and environmental factors. Poor living conditions, harsh taxation, and land policies all contributed to peasant unrest. Peasants enjoyed few rights and no representation in government and often had to pay high taxes to the wealthy landowners and officials, causing many to fall into extreme poverty. In addition, many peasants were sent away to hard labor, while their families were left behind and vulnerable. Environmental factors such as flooding and drought also severely damaged crops and affected the livelihoods of many nomadic tribes, leading to further hardship.
