What is the multiple linear regression equation?

Multiple linear regression is a statistical technique used to predict a continuous outcome variable (i.e. a dependent variable) from two or more independent variables or predictor variables. This is done by fitting a linear equation to the observed data using least squares. The equation takes the form Y = B1*X1 + B2*X2 + Bn*Xn + e, where Y is the dependent variable, X1..Xn are the independent variables, B1..Bn are the regression coefficients, and e is the residual error term. The regression coefficients represent the effect size of each independent variable on the dependent variable.
