What is the direction of buoyant force?

The buoyant force acts in an upward direction. This force is created by an upward and opposing pressure exerted by any liquid surrounding an object that is partially or wholly submerged in the liquid. The buoyant force increases with the object's volume, so a greater portion of the object submerged results in a greater buoyant force.
