What is the belief sampling model?

The belief sampling model is a mathematical model that attempts to model the process of belief formation. The model assumes that when an individual is faced with a new situation, they will sample from their prior beliefs in order to form a new belief. The sampled beliefs are weighted according to the level of confidence that the individual has in each of the sampled beliefs. By using this model, one can better understand how people form beliefs based on their prior experiences and information. This can be used to further study how people make decisions, as well as how they think on a deeper level.
