Service-based occupations, such as software engineering and design, are highly valued in a post-industrial economy. Post-industrial societies tend to be more highly educated, with more access to technology, resources, and information. Changes in social structure include a decrease in the birth rate and an increase in average life expectancy. The shift to a post-industrial society occurs over time as economic and social changes shape cultural and societal dynamics.
