United nations environment program (UNEP)

The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) is an agency of the United Nations devoted to the protection of the environment, in particular conservation and the fulfillment of global sustainability goals. It is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya, and also maintains regional offices in other countries. UNEP coordinates a wide range of activities to ensure that the environment is respected, conserved and managed sustainably, in order to preserve life on earth and promote human health, security and well-being. The organization works to tackle a variety of environmental challenges including climate change, desertification and land degradation, biodiversity loss, and pollution of air, water and soil. It also works to resolve conflicts related to environmental management, and supports scientific assessments, research, observation and monitoring.
