Three social principles of sustainability

1. Equity: Equity is about allocation of resources in an equitable and sustainable manner, so that all people have the same access to natural and other resources, and the same rights to benefits from them. It is about distributing impacts and benefits in an equitable way amongst all stakeholders in a given system, now and in the future. 2. Interdependence: Interdependence is the interconnectedness of different parts of a complex environment. This principle recognizes that relationships between various stakeholders must be maintained if a sustainable model is to hold in the long run. This means taking into account economic, environmental, and social aspects when making decisions. 3. Resilience: Resilience refers to the capacity of a system to withstand disturbances, shocks and disturbances in the environment, and to return in a timely fashion to its original equilibrium level. This is a highly important part of sustainability, as it emphasizes the need to protect natural resources and to reduce vulnerabilities to external forces. In order to be sustainable, a system must be resilient enough to withstand external disruptions.
