The person may not be declined for medical coverage soley based on HIV status

The Affordable Care Act (ACA) prohibits discrimination on the basis of pre-existing conditions, including HIV status, so insurers cannot deny someone medical coverage based solely on HIV status. Additionally, the ACA requires virtually all individuals to have health insurance, so that everyone has access to care whether or not they have an existing health condition.
