The distribution of Income today

The distribution of income today is highly unequal. In the United States, for example, the top 1 percent of earners earn more than 20 percent of all income, while the bottom 50 percent of earners only earn 13 percent of all income. Inequality is even more pronounced globally with the top 1 percent owning more than half of the global wealth. This has significant impacts on economic stability and can fuel poverty and economic insecurity, which in turn can lead to a wide range of negative economic, social and political outcomes.
