From a functionalist perspective, how has human behavior and our way of life contributed to environmental problems? So far I have the premise that functionalist examine the entire system itself. Human activities have become a dominant influence on the earth's climate and ecosystems. Our human need for a faster way way of doing everyday things has lead to more non environmentally friendly measures. Please provide website with more information on this question. Thanks.

From a functionalist perspective, humans and their behavior have had drastic impacts on the environment due to our focus on achieving certain goals. As part of our need to progress, we have indiscriminately used resources without much care for the repercussions on the environment. The invention of technology and its usage for transportation, agricultural practices, and an increased reliance on fossil fuels have lead to increased emissions and a loss of biodiversity. The need for higher production and profit margins has driven wide-scale deforestation and has prompted the exploitation of various resources. The increase in carbon dioxide and climate change has lead to drastic shifts in natural ecosystems and threatened many species. The depletion of other natural resources has also led to a depletion of resources we rely on.
