What happened to the trenches after WW1? After world war one ended what happened to the trenches that were dug... were they left or filled in?

Answers

The trenches that were dug during World War One were generally filled in and returned back to the original landscape. However, some of them were kept around as memorial sites in countries like France and Belgium, as reminders of the horrific war. Other trenches were left to naturally break down over time.
