Why a match that has been lit will not re-light? please include the energy source in your answer.

Answers

A match that has been lit will not re-light because it has used up its energy source. The matchstick is made of materials such as phosphorus sesquisulfide and antimony trisulfide that are capable of burning very rapidly and releasing energy in the form of heat, light and sound. When the head of the match comes in contact with an ignition source like a flame or spark, it ignites and these materials create a rapid reaction that quickly consumes the energy and materials needed to burn. Once the energy is used up, the match becomes extinguished and will not re-light.
