Interlocking food chains make up a food web. A food web is a complex network of interconnected food chains which detail the feeding relationships between different organisms in an ecosystem, including the transfer of energy between different species. A food web is like a web of energy transfers, where the energy is passed between the organisms as one species consumes another and then is eaten in turn by another.
