Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT)

Program Evaluation and Review Technique, or PERT, is a technique used to effectively manage projects. PERT uses a statistical approach to planning and scheduling complex projects by examining the dependencies between tasks and activities. The technique helps to identify tasks that need to be worked on first in order to successfully complete the project and provides estimates of when the project should be completed. PERT diagrams are used to visually depict the sequence of tasks involved in the completion of a project. PERT also enables project managers to be more attentive to the duration of each task by providing an updated timeline that can be used to monitor progress. A project manager can quickly identify which tasks are falling behind schedule and take corrective action.
