Improper and mixed numbers can be placed on a number line by first converting the numbers into fractions, decimal, or percents, and then plotting the resulting number on the line. For example, if you wanted to plot the improper fraction 3/2 onto a number line, you would first convert it to a decimal - 1.5 - and then plot it on the number line. If you wanted to plot the mixed number 4 3/8 onto a number line, you would first convert it to a decimal - 4.375 - and then plot it on the number line.
