I am in dire need of assistance. Can anyone tell me the forumula/solution to transforming inqualities into equivalent inequalities with y alone on one side? I really don't understand this.

The formula/solution to transforming inequalities into equivalent inequalities with y alone on one side is: If the original inequality is of the form 'Ax + By ≤ C', you can rearrange this to 'By - Ax ≤ -C' by subtracting both sides with 'Ax'. Similarly, if the original inequality is of the form 'Ax + By > C' then you can rearrange this to 'By - Ax > -C' by subtracting both sides with 'Ax'. Finally, you can divide both sides of the inequality by 'B', to get 'y ≤ -C/B' (for the first inequality) or 'y > -C/B' (for the second inequality). This will put 'y' alone on one side.
