In what way is Pambupatti different form any other village?

Pambupatti is unique in that it has become the first village in Tamil Nadu to implement a comprehensive waste management system from source segregation of garbage to composting and recyclables. The technology used here is based on the principles of the "3R's" (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) and includes door-to-door collection of garbage, composting of wet waste and putting the dry waste into a reverse vending machine that can be used to exchange the waste for cash. Organic farming is also practiced in Pambupatti to help the village become more self-reliant. Additionally, the village has set up an integrated facility of rain-water harvesting and wastewater treatments, to turn wastewater into safe, drinking-water quality. All of these practices make Pambupatti quite different from other villages.
