How is absolute poverty measured?

Answers

Absolute poverty is defined as the inability to afford a minimum level of subsistence. This level is measured by many indicators, such as income, nutrition, health, housing and access to basic services. In developed nations, absolute poverty is measured in terms of an amount of money below which the basic needs of a person cannot be met. This money is calculated using national poverty lines, or the minimum amount of income required to meet basic needs in a particular country. The poverty line adjusts relative to the cost of living in the country, and is usually adjusted every year or so.
