Describe the path that food takes from the time you ingest it until it is eliminated from the body?

Answers

When food enters the mouth, it is broken down with saliva and then moved to the esophagus and then down to the stomach. In the stomach, food is further broken down by enzymes and acids. Following this, the food is passed through the small intestine where most of the nutrients from the food are absorbed into the bloodstream. The solid waste is then pushed into the large intestine where the remaining water and nutrients are absorbed and the solid waste is pushed further before the waste is then stored in the rectum until it is eliminated from the body.
