Ultraviolet B (UVB) is an invisible form of ultraviolet radiation that reaches the Earth's surface and can have both beneficial and detrimental effects on human health. UVB has a wavelength between 280 and 320 nm and is responsible for the production of vitamin D in the skin and the development of skin cancer when overexposed. UVB radiation has been linked to a decreased risk of advanced and fatal cases of skin cancer. On the other hand, overexposure to UVB can increase the risk of sunburn and premature aging of the skin. Sunscreens can help to protect against the negative effects of UVB radiation, but it is still important to limit sun exposure in order to reduce the risk of skin cancer.
