Describe the function of purse-seine netting

Purse-seine netting is a type of fishing technique which utilizes a large curtain of netting that forms a wall around a school of fish. The net is then cinched closed like a drawstring purse, capturing the school of fish once it has been surrounded. This technique is often utilized by commercial fisherman to target large schools of fish such as tuna, anchovies, sardines, and herring. It is one of the most efficient methods of collecting large numbers of fish. By quickly surrounding a school of fish and collecting them in one net, fishermen are able to maximize their catch and increase their profit.
