The Department of Justice (DOJ) is the federal agency responsible for enforcing the nation’s laws. The DOJ works to ensure public safety against terrorism, cybercrime, human and drug trafficking, financial fraud, and other threats. Additionally, the DOJ enforces civil rights laws and federal laws against discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, disability, and age. In order to accomplish this, the DOJ houses the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), a law enforcement agency that investigates federal, national, and international criminal activity. The FBI’s role is to investigate, collect evidence, and protect the public from criminal activity.
