i have two questions about cellular respiration that i cant get..: 1. why do you keep breating heavily for some time even after you have completed strenuous excercise? (i think this has to do with lactic acid fermentation???) 2. why do winemakers want to keep fermenting grapes in a sealed container? THANKS!

Answers

1. After strenuous exercise, your body needs more oxygen to help it repair and rebuild your muscles. This is because during exercise, your body produces lactic acid as a byproduct of your energy production through anaerobic respiration (which doesn't use oxygen). This lactic acid accumulates in your muscles, contributing to fatigue and muscle soreness. With increased breathing, you can help your body clear out the lactic acid and help the body replenish its oxygen supply. 2. Winemakers want to keep fermenting grapes in a sealed container for two main reasons: first, it allows them to control the temperature of the fermentation, which affects the flavor and texture of the wine. Secondly, by containing the fermentation process in a sealed container, the winemakers can control the amount of oxygen present in the environment, since oxygen promotes the growth of unwanted bacteria. This helps to ensure that the resulting wine is free from contamination.
