Algebra

I am confused by this problem. Solve: Clear fractions or decimal first. 7/3x-1/3x=3x+24/3-1/3+7/3x. I know that I need to gather all terms first. My answer that I came up with was: -23/17. I'm sure that answer is wrong. Can someone please help? Thanks.

The first step is to clear any fractions or decimals. Multiply the left side of the equation by 3/3 to turn the fraction into a whole number: 7/3x-1/3x = 3x + 24/3-1/3+7/3x 7x-x = 9x+24-1+7x Now combine the terms with like terms on each side: 8x = 32 Divide both sides by 8 to isolate the x-value: x = 4 Thus, the answer is x = 4.
