According to scientists, how are greenhouse gases both helpful and harmful to the planet?

Greenhouse gases are helpful to the planet because they trap the sun’s heat in the atmosphere and keep the planet warm enough for life to exist. Without them, the Earth would be a much colder place. However, too much of these gases can interfere with the natural process and cause global warming and climate change, which are leading to longer and more extreme heat waves, melting of polar icecaps and glaciers, rising sea levels, and more intense and frequent storms. Greenhouse gases can also increase air pollution, leading to health issues for humans and other species.
