3 things about climate change that we know beyond disputre

1. Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels in the atmosphere are increasing: Since the 1950s, the concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere has risen from ~315ppm to ~400ppm. This spike in CO2 concentrations over the last 70 years is due to human activities, such as burning of fossil fuels and deforestation, which release large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere. 2. Average global temperatures are rising: According to NASA, the average global temperature has risen 0.8°C since 1880. In the last five years alone (2015-2020) the planet has seen an increase of 0.2°C. Higher temperatures result in more extreme weather, rising sea levels, and a range of other impacts that directly affect people and environments around the world. 3. Ice in polar regions is melting: Data from NASA’s GRACE satellites shows a dramatic acceleration of ice loss from the ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica since the early 2000s. This rapid increase in melting has a direct effect on sea levels, leading to an increase in coastal flooding and erosion. In addition, melting sea ice has an effect on ocean temperatures, currents, and biodiversity.
