1973 Industrial Technology Research Institute

The Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) is a non-profit, public research institution based in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Founded in 1973, ITRI performs R&D in the fields of information, communications, electronics, material, mechatronics, biotechnology, and chemical engineering. Its mission is to provide customer-driven research, industrial development, services, and technology management to strengthen the nation’s industrial base. ITRI works with more than 12,000 companies each year, including many leading international companies. It has research centers in Hsinchu, Taipei, Taoyuan, Shalu (Taichung), Xinshi (Tainan) and Kaohsiung. ITRI is also active in international research collaboration, with close ties to world-leading research centers and universities. Its research has earned numerous patents and awards, while its business incubator has commercialized numerous products and technologies around the world.
