What were the causes of the Civil War?

If you are talking about the Civil War in the United States, there were several main reasons: the discrepancies in the type of production (while the South of the United States remained agrarian, the North became more and more industrialized) and the differing opinions on taxes and internal policies; the conflict of ideologies; and, od course, slavery and abolitionism: while Southern states heavily depended on slaves' free labor in order to maintain their way of life, the North propagated abolitionism and freedom for Afro-American people.
