How many chromosomes are there in a human body cell?

Normally, there should be 46 chromosomes coming in pairs, in one cell. Sometimes there can be more or fewer than 46 chromosomes, but such discrepancies usually lead either to death of a person, or to severe mental and/or physical disorders.
