How many bones are in the human body?

Answers

There are 206 bones in the human body. The bones provide structure, protect organs, and allow for movement. Each of the 206 bones can be divided into four main types: long bones (found in the limbs), short bones (found in the wrists and ankles), flat bones (found in the skull, shoulder blades and pelvis) and irregular bones (found in the spine).

At birth, a human body consists of 270 bones. However, a body of an adult person normally has only 206 bones.
