How does a hydroelectric power plant use moving water to produce electricity?

Answers

A hydroelectirc powerplant comprises several components necessary for producing electricity: a dam, a turbine, a generator, and transmission lines. The dam controls the water flow and raises water level in a part of a river creating to create a waterfall. When falling, the water rotates the turbine that transforms kinetic energy into the mechanical one; the generator is connected to the turbine, so when it spins, the generator spins as well, converting the mechanical energy into the electric one. After this, electricity is conducted to where it is needed through the transmission lines.
