Which one is a better school for computer and software engineering: SDSU or Cal Poly SLO?

Answers

I would say it's unambiguously Cal Poly SLO (CPSLO). CPSLO is recognized as a top public university by US News & World Report (#1 west region non-doctorate offering, Top Public Schools) as well as a top engineering school (#7 non-doctorate offering, Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs). If you take the career perspective, you'll find that tech companies are quite warm to CE/CS/SE graduates. For example, CPSLO is a major feeder school for Apple. I'll put any potential bias out in the open — I am a Software Engineering graduate of CPSLO. That being said, plenty of my classmates went on to work at notable Silicon Valley companies (Google, Apple, Microsoft, Intuit, Cisco, etc.) — even one of my classmate's startups was purchased by Google! I, myself, worked for Apple after graduating. The "Learn by Doing" philosophy of CPSLO's CS department pays off big time in the long term.
